Dear Carlsbad Residents

Thank you for your enormous support in the 2008 election. Because of your involvement and support my campaign became a city-wide grass roots effort, a people’s campaign. I thank you.

I know how disappointed you were when we lost by a small margin, less than 2%. I was disappointed, too.

No regrets, though. I truly enjoyed every minute of the campaign and the hospitality you showed me. The best part of my life as a candidate was the chance to meet you. As I rang your door bells you welcomed me, talked with me about the future of our city, and shared your ideas and concerns. I thank you.

Many of you have already volunteered to work with me for the 2010 election. Together you and I will work hard for the chance to represent you and be your voice on the Council. I thank you for encouraging me to run.

My platform is simple and summarizes what you’ve told me over the last few months. I pledge not to forget your concerns, represent you with honesty and integrity, and work on the following issues:

Creating well-paying pollution-free jobs right here in Carlsbad for you by attracting reputable companies to Carlsbad to diversify and secure Carlsbad’s economic future
Protecting our quality of life and natural resources by supporting your desire for more open space, parks, and clean well-protected lagoons and beaches and by decreasing the pressure of traffic congested streets.
Keeping Carlsbad safe in the frame work of a fiscally responsible local government which ensures our citizens benefit from the services of the most qualified public employees who respond to you promptly, directly and efficiently.
