Making City Council open and accessible:
 Farrah’s leadership philosophy is simple: “Open Door – Open Mind.” Access to your elected officials is important; she firmly believes the residents of Carlsbad deserve an accessible, transparent government. Farrah has proven her open leadership style for the past 20 years as a business leader and passionate community benefactor who is focused on the success of our community.
Ensuring fiscal responsibility & taxpayer protection:
Farrah’s first commitment is to protect your tax dollars and keep our city’s finances strong so we can afford first-class services and facilities and improve the city’s infrastructure, without raising taxes. Farrah will work to ensure that Carlsbad has efficient, highly qualified and specialized city employees, who are responsive to the needs of our residents. Farrah will control spending while increasing revenues.
Diversifying Carlsbad’s economic base:
As a business owner with 20 years of experience, Farrah will lead the city staff to actively search for new and diverse sources of income by attracting new, clean technologies and businesses to our city. Carlsbad needs to diversify its economic sources and create a wider employment base so its residents can live and work in Carlsbad. She will also focus on maximizing the existing economic opportunities by working closely with the businesses already located in Carlsbad. As the past Chair of the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce,  Farrah understands how to forge partnerships between the city government, businesses and our residents.
Enhancing resources and infrastructure:
Carlsbad’s historic Village and Barrio need to be revitalized. A family-focused and friendly Village and Barrio will invite residents and tourists alike and will increase sales tax revenues. This increase provides additional funding for more improvements and city services. Farrah will work to provide a renovated downtown that offers an exciting, safe and family-oriented experience for all.

Reducing Traffic Congestion:
Development within and outside our city is negatively impacting our roads, undermining our quality of life. The city’s traffic lights are not synchronized, adding to delays. The need for building parking structures in the Village is obvious. Farrah will make the reduction of traffic congestion and parking problems a top priority.
Protecting our natural resources:
Our most important natural assets are our city’s beaches, lagoons and open space. Farrah will work to create a reserve fund and an umbrella organization to protect our three lagoons and beaches. Purchasing some of the open space areas identified by the Citizens’ Committee is one of Farrah’s top priorities. She will proactively meet with our neighboring cities’ leaders to implement good-neighbor policies and to ensure excellent planning and cooperation in watershed and water quality issues.  Farrah has been a great supporter of the recently approved desalinization plant, which will provide a secure source of water for Carlsbad into the future.
Addressing public safety concerns:
Farrah is strongly committed to immediately seek an independent survey of our Fire and Police Departments to ensure that Carlsbad meets and exceeds public safety standards. In addition, this survey will focus on the equipment and resources necessary to protect our city in emergencies. Carlsbad has the most respected and professional police and fire agencies in the region and Farrah’s goal is to continue this tradition and to ensure the city is prepared for the future by planning wisely today.
